Spring Family Session
"FAMILY: is the most important thing in the world."
-Princess Diana
And when you have 6 members in a family, it's the perfect opportunity to hold letters that spell it out. I mean, how marvelous is this! Their personalities shine through in the very moment this photo was taken. Just a few months ago, I did a family session with these guys and it's unbelievable to look back and see how each has grown, and yet stayed the same. I'm proud to share this beautiful spring session with all of you.
Crystle + Jamie had their engagement photos taken in this location just weeks before the family session, and I find it so symbolic of their family growing together. That evening, they would be attending Cady's dance recital, and we captured it all in just an hour. One of the many things that I love about working with their family is that when we have a photoshoot, we make it an adventure. It's not all about the posing or perfect positioning, but about capturing the moments as we go. We get a glimpse of true family dynamics, and that's really what it's all about.
I mentioned this in Cadance's blog post, but if kids want a certain photo taken, I absolutely say yes. I love to see them involved in the session, and it allows them to become comfortable, which leads to more natural expressions later on. Cady and Rylie wanted one next to the tree and here we are.

As you may have noticed, Jamie was an excellent sport when all 4 kids wanted a photo on his shoulders. Those were 4 very happy kiddos.
I can't emphasize enough how important it is to take family photographs every once in a while. If you saw their winter family session, you know how much these kids have grown in such a short amount of time. Photographs allow us to revisit the past, and unless we take them, we won't have that opportunity. Littles don't stay little for long.
Again, I want to say thank you to Crystle + Jamie for letting me spend the afternoon with their family. I hope you all have a wonderful summer filled with adventures and good memories.
Much love,
Shannon
