Rylie + Carter

"We might as well be on an island,

we might as well be on the moon The way you're looking at me baby,

can't take my eyes off you"

-Florida Georgia Line

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all living your best lives this summer, it surely has been a beautiful one. If you're reading this, you are in for a real treat!

At 7 AM on July 4th, I met up with Rylie + Carter for their photoshoot. It was a humid and hazy morning on Nay Pond, where the fog was just lifting off of the water. The light was soft and diffuse, absolutely perfect for photos.

So let's start with a backstory. When Rylie expressed to me that she would like to have this session for herself and Carter, it took me some time to come up with a location. And then it came to me! For two athletic and adventurous people, why not do an island canoe session! Rylie + Carter met as students at the University of Southern Maine, and both currently study there. I have a special place in my heart for couples who meet at university.

Is there anything more fun than paddling around the pond with your boyfriend and your cousin chasing you with a camera? I don't think so! (;

We finally made it to the island, and with a little luck, we climbed up the side without losing our canoes (or falling into the water).

Did I mention how photogenic these two are? Swoon.

Some more of a backstory, Rylie and I spent many summers picnicking on this island, so we know it well! We've even been unintentionally chased off by nesting loons. That was not the case today!

While we were leaving the island, I managed to capture this stunning shot of these two. I think we can all agree that sometimes the best photos are the ones we weren't preparing for.

And this is where I get especially swoony.

Picture this, a lovely couple standing in a tippy canoe and Lady Frye attempting to snap photos holding a camera above the water in a moving kayak. That's some risky business.

Honestly though, I just can't get over the perfection of this photo.

When I saw these two standing in the canoe above these sweet green reeds, I seriously teared up. Look at the way they look at each other! This is what dreams are made of.

After adventuring, we made it to land for a few more shots and an outfit change.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is a proper couples photoshoot. Not only did we take beautiful photos, but we really did have a great time! Rylie + Carter, thanks for letting me paddle around with you guys. I hope you two feel that you have photos to treasure for years to come.

Much love,

Lady Frye
